The Houston Texans' official website, HoustonTexans.com, was recognized in October as one of the Silver Award Winners in the 2008 W3 Awards competition in three separate categories for "Sports" website, "Best Video or Motion Graphics" and "Best Visual Appeal."
With entries from more than 3,000 companies worldwide, the W3 Awards is a major web competition sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts and sponsored by Advertising Age.
The purpose of the awards is to honor creative excellence on the web, including outstanding websites, web marketing and web video. HoustonTexans.com is included among winners such as Newsweek, A&E Television Networks, Accenture and Conde Nast Publications.
Designed and developed by AmericanEagle.com, HoustonTexans.com relaunched on March 30, 2007. By focusing on innovation with new and creative programming on Texans TV, a revamped Texans Cheerleader section, a custom Flash video header on the home page and the flexibility of the website to match the team's themed gamedays, HoustonTexans.com was recognized by the award committee.
Judges include executives from organizations such as Alloy, BRANDWEEK, Coach, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Estee Lauder, HBO, iNDELIBLE, Monster.com, MTV, Omnicom, Polo Ralph Lauren, Refinery, Sotheby's Institute of Art, Wired, Yahoo!, and many others.
